Founded in 2011 by chef Michael Solomonov (of Zahav fame) and business partner Steven Cook, Federal Donuts revolutionized Philadelphia's casual dining scene with its unique combination of donuts, fried chicken, and coffee. What began as a small shop in South Philadelphia has expanded to multiple locations throughout the city. Federal Donuts is credited with pioneering the gourmet donut trend in Philadelphia, offering both 'fancy' flavors with creative glazes and toppings as well as traditional 'hot fresh' donuts tossed in flavored sugars. Their twice-fried Korean-style chicken, available in dry seasoning or wet glaze options, has developed an equally devoted following.
