Willie Mae's Scotch House

Willie Mae's Scotch House

New Orleans, LA, USA

Overview

Willie Mae's Scotch House has been serving what many consider America's best fried chicken since 1957. This unassuming restaurant in the Treme neighborhood was founded by Willie Mae Seaton and gained national recognition when it won the James Beard Award for 'America's Classic Restaurant' in 2005. After Hurricane Katrina nearly destroyed the restaurant, the community rallied to rebuild it. Today, under the leadership of Willie Mae's great-granddaughter, the restaurant continues to draw long lines of patrons eager to taste their famous wet-battered, crispy fried chicken.
