Opened in 2003 by James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole, Uchi transformed Austin's culinary scene by introducing innovative Japanese cuisine to the city. Located in a refurbished bungalow in South Austin, Uchi combines traditional Japanese techniques with local ingredients and global flavors. Its popularity has led to expansion with sister restaurants in other Texas cities, but the original Austin location remains a coveted reservation.
