Established in 1933, Stroud's is known for its pan-fried chicken and homestyle cooking. Originally a roadhouse during Prohibition, it transformed into a chicken restaurant when founder Helen Stroud started serving pan-fried chicken to hungry travelers. The restaurant has won multiple James Beard Awards and is famous for its 'We choke our own chickens' slogan. The Oak Ridge Manor location offers a rustic, homey atmosphere where meals are served family-style with all the fixings.
