Founded in 1956 by Bern Laxer and his wife Gert, Bern's Steak House has become a Tampa institution and one of the most renowned steakhouses in America. What began as a small luncheonette has evolved into an elegant dining destination known for its exceptional aged steaks, extensive wine collection (one of the largest in the world with over 500,000 bottles), and elaborate décor. The restaurant gained national acclaim for its meticulous approach to aging and preparing steaks, as well as its legendary Harry Waugh Dessert Room, where guests enjoy desserts and after-dinner drinks in repurposed wine barrels.
