Uchi Houston
Overview
Uchi Houston opened in 2012 as the first expansion of Chef Tyson Cole's acclaimed Austin-based Japanese restaurant. Located in a renovated bungalow in Montrose, Uchi (which means 'house' in Japanese) quickly established itself as one of Houston's premier dining destinations. Chef Cole, who won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest in 2011, is known for combining traditional Japanese techniques with local ingredients and unexpected textures and flavors. The restaurant offers an innovative take on Japanese cuisine that balances tradition with contemporary approaches, creating a dining experience that's both reverent to Japanese culinary heritage and boldly creative.
