La Segunda Central Bakery
Overview
Founded in 1915 by Juan Moré, who brought his Cuban bread recipe from Cuba to Ybor City, La Segunda Central Bakery is the largest producer of Cuban bread in the world. For over a century, this family-owned bakery has maintained traditional baking methods, including placing a palmetto leaf on top of each loaf before baking to create the signature split down the middle. The bakery produces over 18,000 loaves of Cuban bread daily, supplying restaurants throughout Florida and beyond. While primarily known for its bread, La Segunda also offers a variety of Cuban pastries and has expanded to include café locations serving breakfast and lunch featuring their famous bread.
