Parkway Bakery & Tavern

New Orleans, LA, USA

Overview

Established in 1911 as a bakery serving the employees of the nearby American Can Company, Parkway evolved into one of New Orleans' premier po-boy destinations. After closing briefly following Hurricane Katrina, it reopened to great fanfare and has since been featured on numerous food shows. The restaurant maintains its vintage charm while serving what many consider the city's best po-boys. President Obama visited during his presidency, cementing Parkway's status as a must-visit New Orleans eatery. The restaurant often has lines stretching around the block, especially during peak hours and festivals.
